Jess joined the Massif team in December, and comes from an athletic background where she grew up running, swimming, playing volleyball, and anything outdoorsy. Her student athlete collegiate years of spending many hours in the pool, along with supplemental strength training, fueled a love of lifting and wanting to spread that love to helping others achieve their fitness goals in and out of the gym or pool. Jess is an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, with focus on functional and larger compound movements, kettlebell training, fat loss, and HIIT. She also recently coached a local club swim team-Swim Utah for the past two years. She coaches any age and caters to the individual's swim ability in the pool 🙂 She has coached individual clients in Salt Lake City and in Washington DC since 2011. Her greatest successes with clients have been helping them to achieve their own personal fitness goals whether that is fat loss, gaining strength, or increasing energy and getting everyday movement in. A former Division 1 collegiate swimmer, Jess currently focuses on strength training, and jumps at the chance to do deadlifts, pullups, and front squats. She also loves hiking, camping, snowshoeing, dancing, and spending time with her husband and family. She finds crucial balance by challenging herself on the yoga mat. Jess earned a BA Psychology at George Washington University, and is currently studying for a Masters in Occupational Therapy at University of Utah.
